 We see ministers wearing white pajamas - simple Punjabi and leather sandals - a simple person. And , someone has black framed glasses in his eyes.

🌟 Minister Lutfuzzaman Babar ✒ 

 But Lutfuzzaman Babar changed the face of the ministry by becoming the Home Minister.

 But after Mr. Babar became a minister, many people knew that there was a police station in Netrokona named Madan.

 In this way Madan Thana became widely known in Bangladesh through Mr. Babar.

 Mr. Babar was the most popular minister in Greater Mymensingh during the coalition government - even than Mr. Mosharraf https://g.co/kgs/aeLQ2q , the Energy and Minerals Minister of Muktagachha in Mymensingh, and the Education Minister Osman Faruque in Karimganj, Kishoreganj.

🌟 মন্ত্রীদেরকে আমরা যেমন দেখি ✒

মন্ত্রীদেরকে আমরা দেখি সাদা পায়জামা - পাঞ্জাবি আর লেদারের সেন্ডেল পরিহিত সহজ - সরল একজন ব্যক্তি। আবার কারোর চোখে থাকে কালো ফ্রেমের চশমা।

🌟 মন্ত্রী লুৎফুজ্জামান বাবর ✒ 

কিন্তু লুৎফুজ্জামান বাবর স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী হয়ে মন্ত্রিত্বের চেহারাটাই বদলে দিয়েছিলেন।

মাথার চুলে জেল দেয়া , চোখে দামী চশমা , চোট করে ছাঁটা গোঁফ আর দেহে কখনো সু্ট - প্যান্ট , আবার ব্লেজার , আবার কখনো দামী শার্ট - প্যান্ট। এবং দামী দেশি - বিদেশি জুতো তো আছেই।

জোট সরকারের আমলে যখন তিনিকে স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের দায়িত্ব দেয়া হয়েছিলো তখন আমি মনে করেছিলাম তিনি হয়তো নেত্রকোণার নতুন কোন তারকা ব্যক্তি - হুমায়ুন আহম্মেদ , কুদ্দুস বয়াতী অথবা বারী সিদ্দিকীর মতো।

পরে দেখলাম , তিনি জোট সরকারের নতুন স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী।

তিনির স্টাইল এবং নিজেকে উপস্থাপন করার ভঙ্গিমা দেখে মনে হতো , তিনি বোধ হয় কোন মন্ত্রীর স্টাইল না - বরং মারিও পুজোর উপন্যাস অবলম্বনে নির্মিত "গডফাদার" সিনেমার কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্র নিউয়র্কের মাফিয়া ডন ভিটো কর্লিয়নিকেই (মার্লো ব্র্যান্ডো) বেশি অনুকরণ করেছিলেন।

🌟 মদন থানাকে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেয়া ✒

তিনি মন্ত্রী হওয়ার আগে বৃহত্তর ময়মনসিহের বেশির ভাগ মানুষই "মদন" বলতে নেত্রকোণার শাহ সুলতান কমরউদ্দীন রুমির (রাহমাতুল্লাহি আলাইহি) মাজারকেই বুঝতেন।

কিন্তু বাবর সাহেব মন্ত্রী হওয়ার পরে অনেক মানুষ জেনেছিলেন মদন নামের নেত্রকোণার একটা থানাও আছে।

এভাবেই বাবর সাহেবকে দিয়ে বাংলাদেশে মদন থানা ব্যাপকভাবে পরিচিত হয়েছিলো।

🌟 বাবর সাহেবের জনপ্রিয়তা ✒

জোট সরকারের আমলে বৃহত্তর ময়মনসিহের সবচেয়ে বেশি জনপ্রিয় মন্ত্রী ছিলেন বাবর সাহেব - এমনকি ময়মনসিহের মুক্তাগাছার জ্বালানী ও খনিজ মন্ত্রী মোশাররফ সাহেব এবং কিশোরগঞ্জের করিমগঞ্জের শিক্ষামন্ত্রী ড. ওসমান ফারুকের চেয়েও বেশি জনপ্রিয় ছিলেন।

🌟 বাবর সাহেবের জনপ্রিয়তার কারণ ✒

জোট সরকারের আমলে বাবর সাহেবের তদ্বিরে এবং রেফারেন্সে নেত্রকোণার অনেক টাউট , বাটপার , মুরগি চোর , গরু চোর , পকেটমার থেকে শুরু করে একেবারে ছিঁচকে চোরের পর্যন্ত পুলিশ - প্রশাসনসহ বিভিন্ন সরকারি চাকরি হয়েছিলো।

আর সরকারি চাকরি নেত্রকোণার ঐসব চোর - বাটপারদের পরিবার ও আত্মীয়রা বাবর সাহেবের জন্য রাজনীতিতে সক্রিয় ছিলো।

🌟 স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী বাবর সাহেব ✒

যে কোন কারণেই হউক বিএনপির নমিনেশন না পেয়ে বাবর সাহেব স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হয়ে নিজের আসনে নির্বাচন করেছিলেন। এবং সম্ভবতঃ 93 হাজারের চেয়ে বেশি ভোট পেয়ে দ্বিতীয় হয়েছিলেন।

🌟 বাবর সাহেবের অনুচিৎ কাজ ✒

2004 সালে বাংলাদেশে অনেকগুলো বড় ধরণের অপরাধ ঘটেছিলো।

* এপ্রিল মাসে চট্টগ্রামে দশটা ট্রাকে বিভিন্ন ধরণের অস্ত্র আরও কী কী হাবিজাবি (আমাদের মতো জনসাধারণের কাছে ওগুলো হাবিজাবিই) আটক হয়েছিলো।

তিনি ওগুলো পরিদর্শন করতে গিয়েছিলেন - কিন্তু সঠিকভাবে তদন্তও করানওনি।

তবে , একজন ঐতিহাসিক হিসেবে আমার মনে হয় , ঐ চোরাচালানের সঙ্গে বাবর সাহেব জড়িত ছিলেননা।

কিন্তু তিনি স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী হিসেবে ঐ চোরাকাবার যেভাবে তদন্ত করার উচিৎ ছিলো - তিনি সেভাবে করেননি এবং অন্যদেরকে দিয়ে করানওনি।

* আগস্টের একুশ তারিখে গ্রেনেড হামলার তদন্তও তেমন সক্রিয়ভাবে করেননি এবং পুলিশ - প্রশাসনকে দিয়ে করানওনি।

* বাংলাভাই আর বুড়া হুজুরের (OLD TEACHER) তান্ডবও 2004 সালে শুরু হয়েছিলো - কিন্তু উল্লিখিত দুই দুর্ঘটনার তুলনায় নগন্য বিষয় ছিলো।

🌟 বৃহত্তর ময়মনসিহে বাবর সাহেবের প্রভাব ✒

জোট সরকারের আমলে বৃহত্তর ময়মনসিহে বাবর সাহেবের অনেক প্রভাব ছিলো। নিজের স্টাইল দিয়ে অন্যান্য মন্ত্রীদেরকে ম্লান করেছিলেন এবং তিনিকে দেখে সেই সময়ের অনেক মানুষ স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী হওয়ার স্বপ্ন দেখতেন।

এমনকি ঐ প্রভাব বৃহত্তর ময়মনসিংহে আরো অনেক বছর হয়তো সক্রিয় থাকবে।

🌟 বাবর সাহেবের নেত্রকোণায় বোমা হামলা ✒

স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রীর এলাকাতে যদি ভয়ঙ্কর বোমা হামলা হয় , তবে সেটা জন নিরাপত্তার বিরাট বিষয় হবেই।

2004 সালে সর্বহারা দমনে জেএমবি সক্রিয় থাকলেও 2005 সালে সারা দেশে তাণ্ডব শুরু করে।

2005 সালে নেত্রকোণায় বোমা হামলা করে জেএমবি অনেক মানুষকে হত্যা করে।

স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী হিসেবে ঐ ঘটনার কারণে যতটুকু সক্রিয় হওয়ার উচিৎ ছিলো - বাবর সাহেব ততটুকু সক্রিয় হননি।

🌟 এতো ঘটনা , দুর্ঘটনা আর কর্তব্যে অবহেলা সত্ত্বেও বাবর সাহেব আরও অনেক বছর বাংলার রাজনীতিতে আলোচিত হবেন।
