 🌟 Religious issues were as much an issue in the 2001 election as they were in other elections.


 🌟 Religious issues ✒ 


 Due to the ruling on the fatwa in 2000, the leaders of Qawmi Madrasa at that time staged a massive agitation against the Awami League government.


 Although the verdict was handed down by the High Court - the public felt that the Awami League government had taken a stand against the fatwa.


 Later, before the election, it was announced that the Awami League government had taken a stand against Islam.


 Thus religious issues became a serious issue in the 2001 elections.


🌟 Activities of Jamaat-e-Islami ✒ 


 At that time Jamaat-e-Islami was one of the BNP's allies. Although this party was involved in war crimes, it was the main ally of the BNP's political activities at that time through its cunning.


🌟 Unity of Jamaat and Qaumi ✒ 


 Although the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Qaumi Leaders were at odds with each other, at that time Mufti Amini, Ataur Rahman Khan and other Qaumi scholars led the Jamaat-e-Islami to work against the Awami League and cooperate with the BNP.

 In the past, those who preached that female leadership was forbidden were the ones who elected Madam Khaleda Zia as their leader in the 2001 elections and formed the government.

🌟 2001 সালের নির্বাচনে ধর্মীয় বিষয় যতটুকু ইস্যু হয়েছিল অন্য নির্বাচনে ততটুকু হয়নি।


🌟 ধর্মীয় ইস্যু ✒


2000 সালে ফতোয়া সংক্রান্ত রায়ের কারণে সেই সময়ে কওমি মাদ্রাসার হুজুরগণ আওয়ামীলীগ সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যাপক আন্দোলন করেছিলেন।


যদিও সেই রায়টা দেওয়া হয়েছিল হাইকোর্ট থেকে - কিন্তু জনসাধারণের মনে হয়েছিল , আওয়ামীলীগ সরকারই ফতোয়ার বিরুদ্ধে অবস্হান নিয়েছে।


পরে নির্বাচনের আগে এটা প্রচারিত হয়েছিল যে , আওয়ামীলীগ সরকারই ইসলামের বিরুদ্ধে অবস্হান নিয়েছে।


এভাবেই ধর্মীয় বিষয় 2001 সালের নির্বাচনে মারাত্মক ইস্যু হয়েছিল।


🌟 জামায়াতে ইসলামির তৎপরতা ✒


সেই সময়ে বিএনপির অন্যতম শরীক দল ছিল জামায়াতে ইসলামি। এই দলটা যুদ্ধাপরাধের সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট হলেও অত্যন্ত চতুরতার মাধ্যমে সেই সময়ে বিএনপির রাজনৈতিক তৎপরতার প্রধান সঙ্গী ছিল।


🌟 জামায়াত ও কওমির একাত্মতা ✒


জামায়াতে ইসলামি এবং কওমি হুজুররা পরস্পর বিরোধী হলেও সেই সময়ে মুফতি আমিনী , আতাউর রহমান খানসহ অন্যান্য কওমি আলেমদের নেতৃত্বে জামায়াতে ইসলামির সঙ্গে একজোট হয়ে আওয়ামীলীগের বিরুদ্ধে কাজ করে বিএনপিকে সহযোগিতা করেছিলেন।


🌟 নারী নেতৃত্বের সমর্থন ✒


অতীতে যিনিরা নারী নেতৃত্বকে হারাম বলে প্রচার করতেন , তিনিরাই 2001 সালের নির্বাচনে মেডাম খালেদা জিয়াকে নিজেদের নেত্রী মেনে নিয়ে নির্বাচন করেছিলেন এবং সরকার গঠন করেছিলেন।


🌟 এরশাদ সাহেবের ইসলামি তৎপরতা ✒ 


সেই সময়ে বিএনপির সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে এরশাদ সাহেবেও ইসলামি একটা দলের সঙ্গে জোটবদ্ধ হয়ে নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করেছিলেন।
