In Bangladesh, the President is nominated under the direct consideration of the Prime Minister.


So, anyone who is qualified can be nominated as President.


People's representatives, Members of Parliament, Speakers, bureaucrats, even those not related to politics, can be nominated by the Prime Minister as President.


And that's why anyone can aspire to be president.


Many may even indulge in the fantasy of becoming president because of the open opportunity.


But the racketeering of becoming president is not that good.


By racketeering I mean to go to the public place or election commission to make a fuss to become the president.


As soon as the time comes to appoint a new president, the party level of the concerned government begins to buzz, who will be the president?

“রাষ্ট্রপতি হতে চাওয়া কখনই খারাপ না-কিন্তু রাষ্ট্রপতি হওয়ার ধান্দাবাজিটা ততোটা ভালো না।” 


বাংলাদেশে রাষ্ট্রপতি মনোনীত হন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সরাসরি বিবেচনায়।


তাই যোগ্যতা সম্পন্ন যে কেউ রাষ্ট্রপতি হিসেবে মনোনীত হতে পারেন।


জনপ্রতিনিধি,সংসদ সদস্য,স্পিকার,আমলা,এমনকি রাজনীতির সাথে সংশ্লিষ্ট না, এরকম যে কেউ প্রধানমন্ত্রী কর্তৃক রাষ্ট্রপতি মনোনীত হতে পারেন।


আর একারণেই যে কেউ রাষ্ট্রপতি হওয়ার বাসনা পোষণ করতে পারেন।


এমনকি অবাধ সুযোগ থাকার কারণে রাষ্ট্রপতি হওয়ার ফ্যান্টাসিতেও অনেকে ভোগতে পারেন।


কিন্তু রাষ্ট্রপতি হওয়ার ধান্দাবাজি ততোটা ভালো না।


ধান্দাবাজি বলতে আমি বোঝাতে চাচ্ছি যে,রাষ্ট্রপতি হওয়ার জন্য পাবলিক প্লেসে অথবা নির্বাচন কমিশনে গিয়ে হল্লা করা।


এমনিতেই যখন নতুন রাষ্ট্রপতি নিয়োগ হওয়ার সময় আসে,তখন সংশ্লিষ্ট সরকারের দলীয় পর্যায়ে গুঞ্জন শুরু হয়, কে রাষ্ট্রপতি হবেন?
